In cooperation with The University of Iowa’s Hancher Auditorium, a special one-hour program with award-winning Tomás Kubínek will be given at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library. Kubínek, a self proclaimed “certified lunatic and master of the impossible,” has brought laughter to audiences around the world. His presentation at the museum will feature an illustrated humorous and factual account of his travels, life, and work in connection to his Czech roots. He will also discuss his family’s escape from the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia and how his culture and traditions of physical theatre, clown, and puppetry have continued to inspire and inform his work.
Kubínek is working on a collaborative project with Orchestra Iowa. This is the second time he has worked in cooperation with Hancher Auditorium.
