RUSALKA BY ANTONÍN DVOŔÁK
The water nymph Rusalka has fallen in love with a mortal prince. To be part of his world, she sacrifices her immortality and her voice.
Dvořák’s dreamy and romantic music, which includes the stunning “Song to the Moon,” brings to aching life this adult fairy tale inspired by Hans Christian
Andersen’s Little Mermaid.
With Rusalka, we celebrate the 100th birthday of
the late Niki Goldschmidt, co-founder of the Canadian Opera Company.
Performances take place at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, 145 Queen St. W., Toronto.
Performance time is approximately 3 hours 10 minutes with one intermission. Sung in Czech with English SURTITLES™.
Jan. 31, Feb. 5, 11, 17, 20 and 23, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.; Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m. and Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
