We welcome guests of all backgrounds to join us in this celebration that dates back to our 1860's immigration into St. Paul's West End.

Czech and Slovak Sokol Minnesota is gearing up for its 21st annual Czech Slovak Festival September 19 at the Highland Park Pavilion in St. Paul, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. This free festival truly reflects the ethnic and immigrant culture back to the first Czech Slovak settlement (for a brief time known as Bohemian Hill ) in St. Paul's West End/West 7th Street neighborhoods since 1860's. The hall at 383 Michigan Street at West 7th is the oldest theater and national hall in Minnesota, and the oldest Czech Slovak Hall in the US. The festival program features folk music (Slov-Czech Trio, Zuhrah Shine Band, concertinas) and folk dancing (three children’s groups and one adult that will celebrate its 50th year soon), menu of Moravian Kurací Paprikáš s Knedlíkem/Chicken Paprika with Dumplings; /Uzená vepřová žebírka/Czech Pork Ribs with Dumplings & Sauerkraut; Slovakian /Holupki or Polena Kapusta/Slovakian Cabbage Roll with Halusky Kapustou/blended boiled dumplings, steamed cabbage, roasted bacon; Pirohy/Potato and Cheese Dumplings; Jiternice/sausage); Chlebíčky/open face sandwiches. For desserts, our sweet shop presents wonderful Slovak walnut and poppyseed potica and several varieties of kolache (Czech pastries). A St. Paul Fire Department fire engine will herald a boy's and girl's bike raffles. Traditional beverages will also be served!
