Impact of the world economic and financial crises on the Czech Republic and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe
-Lecture by Jan Macháček
April 27, 6:30 pm
Jan Macháček will speak about the impact of the world economic and financial crises on the Czech Republic and other countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
In what respect and to what extent is the Czech Republic different than the rest of the region (high level of deposits, no loans and mortgages to households in foreign currency, relatively low fiscal deficit and indebtedness, stable banking sector)?
What are the risks for the Czech economy (falling exports and falling industrial production, fleeing investors, being part of a global chain of production in times of deglobalization)?
What can a small and open economy do to counterattack the crises? How does it differ from a big economy?
