The Chicago Symphony Orchestra´s season – long “Echoes of Nations” theme culminates in June 2009 with three-week festival of the music of Antonín Dvořák led by conductor Mark Elder. One of the strongest national voices of the Czech Republic, Dvořák, also traveled to the United States to inspire American conductors to search for this country´s unique musical sound. Elder will take the CSO on a journey through Dvořák´s vast musical output, highlighting the composer´s symphonies, chamber music, oratorios and operatic music.
