The Prague Spring and the Warsaw Pact Invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968.
Coeditor of the book, Professor Guenter Bischof, will offer a presentation on the role of the United States and President Lyndon B. Johnson in the 1968 crisis and will debate the book´s analyses of this turning point in the Cold War in light of new documentary evidence from the archives of two dozen countries.
Guenter Bischof is a native of Austria. He currently serves as the Marshall Plan Professor of History and the Director of CenterAustria at the University of New Orleans. He is the coeditor of Prager Fruehling: Das internationale Krisenjahr 1968, 2 vols. (Vienna 2008), which has also appeared in Russian.
