In the Steps of Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk
Living history, singing and lunch


Meet at 10:30AM in front of at the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Brooklyn Heights
(Gothic church at 119 Pierrepont Str - between Monroe Place and Clinton Place )  <

We'll join in the Flower Communion designed by founder of Czech Unitaria
Norbert Capek. Flowers and a CZECH folk song (in Czech!) play a major
role in this ceremony. A walk on Brooklyn Promenade and lunch follows.

Brooklyn-born Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk (1850-1923), later the First Lady of new Czechoslovakia, was an active member of this Unitarian Church congregation. Both her husband Tomas Masaryk and her son Jan spoke from this church's pulpit. John Howland Lathrop, the ninth minister of the First Church, headed a relief program in Czechoslovakia following World War II.
